You Will Never Beat New York captures people clapping, ringing bells, cheering, playing music and dancing to honor the many heroes who were called upon to help and save lives in 2020.
During an unprecedented city lockdown, a 5-minute hand-clapping and cheering ritual began daily at 7PM in New York City in March 2020. An outpouring of spontaneous gratitude for first responders, healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, hospital staff, etc), essential businesses, grocery store workers, delivery guys, MTA workers, doormen, warehouse workers, among others, New Yorkers continued the ritual throughout April and beyond to honor everyone whose courage, strength, and resilience made it possible to cope.
Corona Diary 2020 is a series of photographs and an award-winning short film You Will Never Beat New York shot on an iPhone by Roberta Fineberg and is a love letter to New York City. The short experimental video speaks to the love of a city at the epicenter of a worldwide pandemic.…
